September is a gorgeous time of year in many places throughout the world and particularly the U.S. The summer has come and gone, and in many places this is the first start to the seasons really changing into the beautiful fall. Leaves begin to change, the weather gets a little crisper and the scenery can just be magnificent his time of year. Whether you are looking for a luxury trip, a quick budget getaway, or just some inspiration, here is some beautiful September travel inspiration.
Napa Valley, California
One of the most beautiful sections of California that isn't located along the beautiful coast is the Napa Valley and Yountville areas, or better known as California's wine country. It is often compared to the Tuscany region in Italy and is truly exactly as it looks in pictures and movies.
There are beautiful vineyards that make this landscape of California look as dreamy as you can imagine. There are many different wineries to choose from, each with their own unique look and offerings. Even if wine isn't your thing, you can still enjoy Napa Valley as it offers a beautiful landscape, adorable shops and fantastic restaurants that rival most big cities. If you are looking for accommodations, there are many to choose from including Embassy Suites, Andaz Napa (A Hyatt Hotel), Hotel Yountville and Bardessono.
September is one of the most beautiful times to visit this picturesque California region, as the midst of harvest season usually goes from August through October; September is a wonderful time to be in wine country. The vineyards are full of workers gathering grapes, and the wineries are beginning to crush the fruit they have cultivated all year. The Napa Valley Wine Train, is a great option offering lunch, dinner, and winery tours as part of the journey in their truly vintage rail cars that explore a wonderful view of the vineyards. The Napa Valley towns boast outstanding restaurants from casual to upscale, and the impressive Culinary Institute of America is a great stop. The weather is often warm and beautiful with cool nights, particularly in September.
One of the best things to do is walk or even drive the short main street in Yountville. Check out The French Laundry, Thomas Keller’s world-renowned, three-Michelin-starred restaurant which has been highly regarded as one of the best restaurants in the world for the past 23 years; but beware you must book your reservation to this culinary experience well in advance, months, sometimes even years in advance.
For a more budget-friendly Thomas Keller option stop at Bouchon Bakery and pick up a quick coffee and dessert and people watch on their outdoor patio. R+D Kitchen is an outstanding choice for a restaurant in Yountville offering a wide array of menu options from hamburgers, to sushi along with outstanding service to match the delicious food.

You can visit the pearl farms in Taha’a, explore various resorts, or better yet do nothing but enjoy your view in your overwater bungalow.
Yellowstone, Mt Rushmore, Grand Teton National Park
Autumn is one of the best times to visit Yellowstone: The weather is still relatively mild, there is plenty of wildlife and most of the summer crowds have left, leaving behind plenty of more reasonably priced hotel rooms, campsites and tours. Prepare for fall and winter though: average daytime temperatures can range from the high 30s to high 60s. Also, keep in mind that most facilities (like visitors centers, general stores and post offices) close by early November, so September is a great time to visit.

There are great hotels to choose form for all budgets and of course, outstanding Italian food everywhere.
